How to Play Tent & Trees: Rules, Strategy & Free Puzzles

Tent & Trees is a deduction puzzle on a grid. You place tents so that each tree has exactly one tent next to it, no two tents touch each other in any direction, and the number of tents in each row and column matches the clue beside it.

How to play Tent & Trees

  1. Pair tents to trees. Each tree must have exactly one tent placed in an orthogonally adjacent cell, and each tent belongs to one tree.
  2. Keep tents apart. No two tents may touch, not even diagonally.
  3. Match the clues. The numbers beside each row and column give the exact count of tents in that line.
  4. Leave other cells empty. Cells that are neither a tree nor a tent stay as grass.

Tent & Trees FAQ

How many tents go with each tree?

Exactly one. Every tree is paired with a single tent placed directly above, below, left or right of it.

Can two tents be next to each other?

No. Tents can never be adjacent, including diagonally, so they always have a gap between them.
